The Cycle Experience

Stemming from my 10-year experience building and managing my own compost toilet, it is time to bring the topic forward. "The Cycle Experience" is not a typical project with a beginning and an end. It is rather a kind of "topical framework", with the aim to give more recognition to resource-oriented sanitation, and dry toilets in particular

The first step was to create a Facebook group "Trockentoiletten in Österreich" (2024).

The second step was the presentation of a poster about my own experiments (2025)

Next step will be to prepare an exhibition with the title "Wozu ist meine Kacke gut?" ["What's my shit good for?"] featuring 4 stations, like on Joseph Jenkin's famous illustration in The Humanure Handbook. There will be (1) a table with food and drinks, (2) a urine diverting dry toilet, (3) a composter and (4) some plants growing in pots. All four stations will be linked by arrows on the floor. The first occasion will be the Long Night of Research happening in Austria on 24. April 2026. Exhibition site: UFT, Konrad-Lorenz-Straße 24, 3430 Tulln
